Control of sludge dewatering
In order to control the sludge dewatering at a pulp mill, two ITX-IL in-line suspended solids sensors has been installed strategically before and after a mechanical dewatering filter. Both meters are used to control the polymer dosing over the pre-dewatering filter and the following centrifuge. The suspended solids amount is multiplied with the flow in order to get the mass flow. The mass flow is controlling the polymer dosing so it can be optimized. Also the control of sludge wasting from the activated sludge stage is controlled by an in-line suspended solid meter.
